Bandura Desktop - End User Licence Agreement

Licensor: Bandura (“Bandura”, “we”, “us”). Contact: [email protected]. This agreement covers the Bandura desktop application. Third-party components retain their own licences.

1. The short version

Bandura is free to download and use for personal and commercial work. No paid seat, evaluation period, activation key or subscription is required. You receive the complete application.

2. Permission to use

You may install and use Bandura at no cost on your own or your organisation’s computers, including for paid client work, company projects, learning, research and open-source work. This permission has no time limit for the releases provided under this agreement. No account or payment method is required. Bandura remains proprietary software; free use does not grant ownership of its source code or permission to resell the application.

3. Earlier releases

The free-use permission in §2 also applies to earlier Bandura releases you obtained from our official downloads. Those releases may still display an old licence reminder or trial label. You do not need to pay or enter a key; update to a newer build to remove that retired interface.

4. Optional support

You may voluntarily support development through the Patreon link on bandura.dev. A contribution is not required to use Bandura, grants no extra application features and does not purchase a software licence or guaranteed future release. Patreon displays the terms of any contribution.

5. Existing licence holders

Previously purchased rights remain valid. This update does not shorten any previously granted update window or remove any contractual rights. Stored legacy keys need not be deleted or renewed to keep using the free application.

6. What you may not do

You may not:

• resell, rent, or sublicence Bandura itself (using Bandura to build and deliver work for a client is normal use, and is fine);
• reverse-engineer the application except to the extent that applicable law expressly permits it despite this restriction;
• use Bandura to knowingly attack, overload, or gain unauthorised access to systems you are not authorised to test.

7. Your data

Bandura stores your flows as plain files in folders you choose. We have no copy of them and no means of obtaining one. The application performs no telemetry, analytics, or error reporting unless you explicitly turn it on, and beyond running the requests your flows describe it makes exactly two network requests of its own:

1. AI features contact the AI provider whose API key you supply, under that provider’s terms. If you configure no provider, or point Bandura at a model running on your own machine, nothing leaves it.

2. Updates contact our public releases list on GitHub and nothing else. Two things happen, and the second one only happens if you ask for it.

   The check asks that list, at most once a day, whether a newer version exists, and tells you if one does. It carries no identifier, no account, no licence key, and nothing about your machine or your flows; GitHub sees an anonymous request for a public page, as it would if you opened that page in a browser.

   The download fetches that version and installs it. It does not run until you press the button that starts it, or until you turn on automatic downloads in Settings, and either way it covers the version you were told about and no other. Nothing is ever installed while you are working: an update is applied when you quit, or when you press Restart. Fetching a file necessarily tells GitHub which file, so it reveals the operating system, the processor architecture and the version being fetched, because those are part of the file’s address. It still carries no identifier, no account and no licence key. This is the same disclosure as downloading the same file from our website in a browser, and no more.

   Turning the check off in Settings stops both, and neither ever runs again.

We receive nothing from either one.

Your work is yours. Nothing in this agreement grants us any right to it. If you stop using Bandura, your flows remain readable, runnable text files.

8. Open-source components

Bandura is built on open-source software, including Electron, Chromium, Node.js, React, and Monaco, each under its own licence. The Bandura packages that make up the execution engine, file format, CLI, and MCP server (@bandura/*) are published under the MIT licence and are not restricted by this agreement. Their licences are reproduced in the application’s about screen and in the source repository.

9. Earlier purchases and voluntary support

No software purchase is required. If you previously bought a Bandura licence, your existing rights and any refund rights under the terms of that purchase remain intact. Contact [email protected] for help with an earlier purchase. A refund does not remove the free-use permission granted by this agreement. Voluntary Patreon contributions are separate from a software purchase and are handled under the terms shown by Patreon.

10. No warranty

Bandura is provided “as is”. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we make no warranties, express or implied, including of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the software is free of defects or that it will run uninterrupted.

This does not exclude or limit any statutory rights you have as a consumer that cannot be excluded under the law of your country of residence.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you under or in connection with this agreement is limited to the amount you paid for your licence in the twelve months before the claim arose (or, if you paid nothing, to nothing).

We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of data, or business interruption. Bandura executes requests against systems you point it at; you are responsible for which systems those are and for the consequences of running a flow against them.

Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

12. Termination

This agreement ends if you stop using Bandura and delete it, or if you materially breach it - in particular § 6. If we terminate for breach, sections 7, 10, and 11 survive.

We will not remotely disable your copy. Earlier purchased rights remain intact.

13. Changes to this agreement

We may publish new terms for future releases. The permission to use a release under the terms that accompanied it continues for that release. Earlier purchased rights are not reduced by this update. Previous versions of this agreement remain in the repository history.

14. Who you are contracting with, and governing law

Bandura is a trading name.

This agreement is governed by the law of Ukraine, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory law of your country of residence, and you may bring proceedings in its courts.
